Scrambling

It’s an intoxicating mix of climbing and hiking that makes for some of the best mountain days possible.

Course Details

In many ways, scrambling could be described as the essence of mountaineering. It fills the space between mountain walking and rock climbing in a way that combines the best of both – the constant movement of walking, and the exhilarating, attention-grabbing fun of climbing. It’s an intoxicating mix that makes for some of the best mountain days possible.

We split our scrambling days into two types:

Easy Scrambling

Suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness a head for heights, this course takes in some great scrambles that are unlikely to require any specialist equipment. With all scrambling there is always an element of risk, so if you’re new to the sport, it’s definitely a good idea to start here.

Hard Scrambling

If you already have some basic climbing or scrambling experience and want to try something a bit more challenging, this is the course for you. The Grade 2 scrambles we do are more exposed and involve short sections of easy rock climbing which may need a rope. On the Grade 3 routes, any sections of climbing will be longer and/or harder than you would find on a Grade 2, but don’t worry – we’ll obviously provide all the gear and know-how required!
